“Measuring Cups” - Andrew Bird
Get out your measuring cups and we’ll play a new game
Come to the front of the class and we’ll measure your brain
We’ll give you a complex and we’ll give it a name
“Into The Wild” — L.P.
Somebody left the gate open
You know we got lost on the way
Come save us a runaway train
Goin insaane
How do we
How do we not fade
How do we how do we how do we not fade away
How do we how do we ooooh
Into the wild
How we are living
“Marching Bands of Manhattan” — Death Cab for Cutie
I Wish We Could Open Our Eyes
To See In All Directions At The Same Time
Oh, What A Beautiful View
If You Were Never Aware Of What Was Around You
And It Is True What You Say
That I Live Like A Hermit In My Own Head
But When The Sun Shines Again
I’ll Pull The Curtains And Blinds To Let The Light In
Radical Face “Glory”
I hope for the best but nothing changes, I’m sorry
But I was blessed with bad eyes
There’s a lot that I missed but I don’t mind, I’m not that old
I’ll find out what broke me soon enough

“Iridescent” — Linkin Park
And in the burst of light that blinded every angel
As if the sky had blown the heavens into stars
You felt the gravity of temper grace falling into empty space
No one there to catch you in their arms
Do you feel cold and lost in desperation
You build up all the failures all you’ve known
Remember all the sadness and frustration
And let it go, let it go.
“Fix You” — Cold Play
And high up above or down below
When you’re too in love to let it go
But if you never try you’ll never know
Just what you’re worth
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
Tears stream down on your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down on your face
And I…
“Comes and Goes” — Greg Laswell
This one’s for the faithless
The ones that are surprised
They’re only where they are now regardless of their fight
This one’s for believing if only for it’s sake
Come on friends get up now
Love is to be made
“Home” - Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
-sometimes a random dance break is needed-
Rosi Golan and William Fitzsimmons “Hazy”
“The Cave” — Mumford and Sons
So make your siren’s call
And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say
Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it’s meant to be
And I will hold on hope
And I won’t let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I’ll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I’ll know my name as it’s called again
“The Prayer” — Josh Groban and Charlotte Church
Personal Note: I’m not really religious. Actually, I identify as Agnostic. But I believe in the power of belief (in whatever form you package it and find solace). For me the holiday season isn’t complete without a raspberry hot chocolate and this song at some point (along with Greensleeves…).
To all of you this season, I wish you love. I wish you hope. I wish you peace within your own skin. Most of all, I give you my respect and my thoughts.
….Imagine where we’d be if everyone just gave their respect and a thought.
Happy December.

On the Radio — Regina Spektor
This is how it works
You’re young until you’re not
You love until you don’t
You try until you can’t
You laugh until you cry
You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe
Until their dying breath
No, this is how it works
You peer inside yourself
You take the things you like
And try to love the things you took
And then you take that love you made
And stick it into some
Someone else’s heart
Pumping someone else’s blood
And walking arm in arm
You hope it don’t get harmed
But even if it does
You’ll just do it all again
“Winter Song” — Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson
First frost of my fall in the US and I find the ice is kind of comforting. I love the fall but I’m ready for the winter this year.
“People Running” — Jack’s Mannequin
We are just these people
Happy, tangled lives
We are only chemical and skin
Barely strapped in for this air-conditioned drive
We are tired of waiting
Still, we stand in line
Yeah, this is all addition by subtraction
A simple chain reaction of the mind
Yeah, we are just these people running around
And I am in no hurry to figure it out
Yeah, we are just like old ships running aground
In search of water
Band of Horses — “Our Swords”
Open your mouth sounds of breathing found it spilling from your face
Best to be dim to the humble of traffic stepping on your namewords-lyrics.html ]
Count on us all follow our own swords tonight
Eric Hutchinson — “Rock and Roll”
‘Cause If she wanna rock she rocks
If she wanna roll she rolls
She can roll with the punches
Long as she feels like she’s in control
If she wanna stay she stays
If she wanna go she goes
She doesn’t care how she gets there
Long as she gets somewhere she knows oh no
ah na na na na na na na na na na na
Amos Lee — “Arms of A Woman”
What Makes Me “Quirk(y)” : When I load my iPod for road trips, I section the songs into the time of day/landscape I’m driving through. Amos Lee is always on my sunset mix.
